Five years of devastating earthquakes have left many people struggling with a myriad of issues.. poverty, homelessness, injury, depression, abuse and addiction are just a few challenges on constant rotation for Canterbury residents.
But for the region's most vulnerable people, the quakes pushed them even further.
For charities and non-government organisations, it meant they were suddenly pushed into the fray to try and pick up the pieces.
Charlotte Lewis-West visited a number of charities around Christchurch to see how they were weighing negatives against the positives.
