Rabia Siddique is a former human rights lawyer and British Army officer who was caught up in the horrifying events at al Jamiat prison in Basra, Iraq.
Today marks 11 years since Major Rabia Siddique got the call to intervene in negotiations to free two British SAS soldiers, who had been captured earlier that day.
What would follow would be a horrific struggle that included being held hostage herself at gunpoint, being rescued and fleeing on foot, to her settlement against the Ministry of Defence for its mistreatment of her in the wake of the events in Iraq.
Newstalk ZB's Matiu Workman caught up with Rabia Siddique, ahead of her trip to Dunedin in October for her Courage Under Fire show.
