A Let’s Get Wellington Moving leader is defending millions being spent on consultants.

The transport plan's spent 35-million-dollars on consultants since 2017.

Over the same period, just over 250-thousand-dollars was spent on construction work.

National's transport spokesman Simeon Brown said the Government has been getting Wellington consulting, not getting it moving.

But Wellington Regional Council chair Daran Ponter says told Nick Mills it’s a necessary cost.
