Critics are now pointing fingers at the Ministry of Health, for ditching an effort to secure all DHB computer systems and a lack of funding.
National Party Deputy Leader Dr Shane Reti told The Weekend Collective this is a wake-up call.
"We're definitely up for a review to look at what we're doing, how we're doing, are we doing it appropriately, are we practicing at the best of scope?"
