Maori Language Week starts tomorrow.
This year’s week was organised to start on September 14th, the day in 1972 when the petition for Te Reo Maori was presenting to parliament.
Broadcaster Scotty Morrison told Francesca Rudkin it's a great time for New Zealanders to use the language, and normalise it.
He says attitudes towards the Maori language have improved over the last five to 10 years.
But he says we can still do better.
'As the language is normalised, and the interest increases, the next step is to push people to become fluent in Te Reo Maori."
