The Italian Daughter by Soraya Lane who is a local author, based in Canterbury. Perfect for fans of Lucinda Riley’s Seven Sisters series, and like them, this is the first in an 8 book series, the next one, The Cuban Daughter is coming in July. The author wrote this one during the Covid lockdown when she was dreaming of travel, fun and romance and has set part of it on a beautiful vineyard in modern day Italy. But there’s a second strand to the story set in 1940’s Italy, so it’s inter generational. 

The Book of Feeling Blue by Gwendoline Smith. Gwendoline is a practicing New Zealand psychologist and this is her fourth book aimed particularly at young people who have various issues to deal with – so far she’s covered things like anxiety and over thinking – and this new one is written to explain what’s going on when you’re feeling down and offers advice on how to cope. Really practical and helpful.
