Australia recently announced a direct pathway to citizenship for New Zealanders, a move that thrilled many.
From July 1st, New Zealanders who have lived in Australia for four years will be able to apply for citizenship without having to become permanent residents first.
Oz Kiwi, an advocacy group campaigning for the fair treatment of New Zealanders living in Australia had been pushing for these changes for over a decade.Â
Group spokesperson Joanne Cox says a lot of Kiwis are happy with this new move from the Australian Government.
"They made every Kiwi equal and everyone has a pathway to citizenship if they want it for a fair and affordable price. So we're just absolutely thrilled that they've done this, and there shouldn't be any reason for people to complain."
