This week Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins said that almost 70% of the eligible population have received at least one dose of the Pfizer vaccine or have booked to have one, but this does not include children under 12 who have not yet been cleared to receive the vaccine. Â
Dr Fran Priddy, the Clinical Evaluation Director at Malaghan Institute and also the Clinical Director of the Vaccine Alliance Aotearoa New Zealand spoke to Francesca Rudkin about what impact this might have on us achieving herd immunity.
She said it would be "critical for New Zealand and for other countries" for under 12's to get vaccinated "to put an end to this phase of the pandemic."
