For nearly all of us, our current situation is completely unprecedented.
Taken from our day to day lives, forced to live in confined spaces, some of us with people we’d rather not be living with.
But for some, it’s very familiar, especially those who have lived in prison.
Dr Paul Wood was in jail for murder at age 18, after killing a drug dealer who attempted to assault him.
He spent more than a decade in jail, but used the time to became the first person in New Zealand’s history to progress through undergraduate and Masters degrees while in prison, and also started on what would become his doctorate in psychology.
He joined Andrew Dickens to discuss how his experiences apply to our current situation, his turning point in prison, and what people could get out of the lockdown.Â
