We know that turning off the screens before bed is supposed to help us achieve a good night's sleep, but it's a difficult habit to break.
New research confirms that some genres of TV may help or hinder your sleep, and the most helpful genres are certainly unexpected.
According to the study, participants who fell asleep to horror, action or suspenseful shows before bed got a better night's sleep as opposed to participants who watched documentaries.
Dr Michelle Dickinson says that adrenaline based entertainment may help viewers fall asleep better because viewers were more likely to get distracted and forget their worries from the day.
