
Our Government has confirmed New Zealand isn't among the countries seeking a new trade deal with the US.
President Donald Trump says he hopes to reach agreement with China soon.
The White House says it also has 18 proposed deals on paper, and is in talks with 34 other countries.
But Trade Minister Todd McClay says we probably can't negotiate a better deal with the US than what we're already getting.
He explained the US is imposing a 10 percent base on all countries - even Australia, which has an FTA with the US.
