The Prime Minister says he's waiting to hear the nuts and bolts of potential agricultural product tariffs that could impact New Zealand. 

US President Donald Trump has slapped levies on Canada, Mexico and China - and says other tariffs could begin next month. 

Chris Luxon says it's not known if that would be universal, or country-specific.

He says he instructed officials several weeks ago to engage with Trump's administration.

Luxon explained he'd engage directly with Trump if he feels New Zealand's agriculture is at risk - but it's important to actually see the detail first.
