Bioblitz Next Friday and Saturday I am attending and participating in a Bioblitz at Rotopiko Lake, near Ohaupo, Waikato.

It’s organised by the National Wetland Trust and Landcare Research  It’s an attempt to find as many species of organisms as possible in a certain area within a limited amount of time.

Two days, for instance – the area is Lake RotopikoParticipants are serious scientists, local Nature Nerds, Teachers, Parents/Grandparents, Members of the Community, Council staff, kids – anybody that wants to come along and help look for….

I like it!  Her first single solo records were identikit EDM bangers that didn’t fire or chart.  She’s stripped the sound back, embraced her Cuban roots in Miami and delivered a personal, emotional album.  She’s not the strongest voice but she knows it and plays to it very well. The mostly acoustic instrumentation is also affecting.  Not your average pop record!
