Born in Melbourne, Antony Loewenstein is an Australian-German freelance investigative journalist, author, and filmmaker. He co-founded of Declassified Australia in 2021 to uncover Australia’s often secretive relationships with the world. He’s worked in dozens of countries worldwide and was based in South Sudan in 2015 and East Jerusalem between 2016 and 2020. He has written for The New York Times, The Guardian, The Washington Post, The New York Review of Books, Sydney Morning Herald, and The Australian among others. He appears regularly on TV, radio, in public and at universities around the world discussing current affairs and politics. He won the 2019 Jerusalem (Al Quds) Peace Prize, one of Australia’s leading peace awards. He is currently developing a number of documentary film projects. He sits on the advisory council of the British-based Sri Lanka Campaign for Peace and Justice. He is the co-founder of the advocacy group Independent Australian Jewish Voices.
His latest book The Palestine Laboratory: How Israel Exports the Technology of Occupation Around The World was released in May 2023 and was a long-list finalist in the Moore Prize, an international literary and human rights award.
