The Government has abandoned plans to impose GST on all KiwiSaver fees and services.
It comes less than 24 hours after the proposal emerged, and was followed by chorus of opposition.
The Revenue Minister says views were mixed during consultation - with large providers opposed to the change, but smaller ones supporting it.
Now, he says smaller providers also oppose the plan.
Newstalk ZB political editor Barry Soper says told Simon Barnett and James Daniels it's eerily similar to the argy-bargy over capital gains tax.
He says Jacinda Ardern was a big fan of capital gains and it was backed by an independent report, but after public backlash the Government backed down.
