A new study shows Covid-19 is reshaping the way we work.

Research from MyHR shows casual and fixed-term employment has risen 12.5 percent in the months of March to October, compared to the same time last year.

Many companies are preferring to offer fixed-term contracts rather than permanent employment, with dramatic increases in not-for-profits, health care, education and training.

MyHR Head of Advisory Sylvie Thrush Marsh told Mike Hosking employers are giving themselves an 'out' in case the work dries up.

"It gives employers the flexibility of retaining employees if the work remains, or easily manages their exit from the business.
