New Zealand Rugby boss Steve Tew says while 'Mad Mondays' need to be a thing of the past, an outright ban may not be the way to go.
The NZRU and the Human Rights Commission are meeting today, after a commission letter signed by prominent women called for a change to rugby culture following the Chief's stripper scandal.
Steve Tew said they're responsible for 400-500 young men, and they need to do more to help them to know what behaviour's appropriate.
"We've made it very clear that this behaviour is inappropriate, and celebrations of this sort need to be very carefully run and well-balanced.
"But ultimately if young men who get together who have been together for six months want to go out and celebrate on their own, as these guys actually did, then banning it is only going to drive it underground."
Tew said a better response is a top-down approach, with management involved in planning end-of-season celebrations.
