The Finance Minister says the recent culture of spraying the money gun with reckless abandon has come to an end. Â
Nicola Willis released the 2024 Budget yesterday, confirming the long-awaited tax cuts and announcing funding for various sectors and industries.Â
She confirmed that the tax programme is fully funded by the baseline-savings exercise of rooting out waste in government departments.Â
Willis told Mike Hosking that they’re funding it responsibly, without needing to borrow funds.Â
The economy’s forecasts have degraded in recent times, the Government books not predicted to return to surplus until the 2027/28 financial year.Â
If they hadn’t made those cuts and changes, Willis said, they wouldn’t be back into the black until 2031.Â
