New Zealand could be back out of recession this morning.Â
The latest GDP figures for the second quarter of this year —due out this morning— are expected to show New Zealand's economy is growing once again.Â
Spending on goods remains weak, and the economy isn't growing on a per capita basis.Â
But Westpac's Chief Economist, Kelly Eckhold, told Mike Hosking that it’s better to focus on the annual rate of growth, which is forecast to be 1.5% for the year.Â
She said that 0.8% growth in this quarter is a bounce back from a very weak first quarter.Â
