Minister responds to accusations of 'selling out' on emission levies

James Shaw is defending the Greens against accusations of being "sellouts", and giving too much ground on climate change.

It's what campaigners like Greenpeace have labelled the agreement with the agriculture industry announced yesterday.

It means farmers won't be subject to emission levies, unless the industry breaches the agreement.

Climate Change Minister James Shaw told Mike Yardley it's no secret the Green Party wants things to move faster.

He says he completely understands where the campaigners are coming from, but the policy they've come up with is more likely to hold across governments.
