The world's first openly transsexual MP has been invited to speak at the Oxford Union.

Former Labour MP, Georgina Beyer will speak at the Oxford University's debating society.

She will follow in the footsteps of former prime ministers David Lange and Helen Clark.

Beyer told Mike Hosking she will be speaking about her life and will be preparing well.

"I think I'm sort of quite well known for never writing speeches, but yes, I think on this one we need to be pretty together on it."
