The chartered accountants public trust survey shows we have more faith in experts than institutions.
Political parties, religious institutions and the media are the least trusted.
Head of Chartered Accountants Peter Vial told Mike Hosking they have the potential to be as trusted as professions - they just need to prove it.
"The expertise is objective and that gives rise to more trust, whereas institutions are coming at it from an ideological perspective, or a self serving perspective, or that's certainly how people perceive that."
