Rapid Antigen Tests should be available to buy from some supermarkets by next week.
Foodstuffs, which runs New World, PAK'nSAVE and Four Square, has started sending tests to more than 250 stores for surveillance staff testing.
The RATs will then be made available to customers at some stores.
Foodstuffs North Island Chief Executive Chris Quin told Mike Hosking the company has made a commitment to sell the RATs at cost, with no mark up.
“Gonna come in a 5 pack for about $32.99, so that’s $6.60 a test.”
