Today could be another record-breaking day for Covid case numbers in Auckland and Waikato. 

New Zealand recorded 94 new community cases yesterday -- our highest daily case number since the pandemic began. 

Covid Minister Chris Hipkins says case numbers could reach about 100 today  

He told Mike Hosking the good news is vaccination is reducing the spread of the virus, and the number of people ending up in hospital. 

“At this point, the real questions is whether or not those cases are still contained within Auckland. But we’ve got to start looking at some of those other metrics, degree of hospitalisation, for example.”
