Police say a gun registry will keep New Zealand safe - without hurting responsible gun owners.
The second tranche of the Arms Legislation Bill is going before Parliament, and if passed, will introduce a gun registry.
Police Association President Chris Cahill told Mike Hosking it would drop the rate of murders and suicides involving guns, suffocate the supply to gangs, and numerous other benefits.
"This is a winner for all New Zealanders, including for firearm owners. Nothing in the registry stops them from owning or using their firearms."
