The Health Minister is confident the health system will cope with the coming rise in Covid-19 cases.

New Zealand recorded 60 new community cases yesterday, but much higher case numbers are possible in the coming days.

People with symptoms or exposure in Auckland's New Lynn and the North Shore's Rosedale, Redvale, and Bayswater are being told to get tested.

Andrew Little says told Mike Hosking hospitals are ready for what comes next.

“Right now, we have 38 people in hospital and four of those are in ICU. So, we’re keeping the numbers pretty low, I’m confident we can absorb that once we reduce the restrictions.”
