Next year will see the 21st reports in ten years discussing whether Ports of Auckland should move operations north or not.Â
The Government has ordered more information looking into options before a decision is made.Â
A paper is to be presented to Cabinet in May next year.
Far North Mayor Wayne Brown was involved in writing the latest report, which dubbed Northport as the preferred option.Â
He told Heather du Plessis-Allan another report is simply unnecessary.
"We're accused of predetermination, but we didn't predetermine it. Northport is a deep water port, Port of Auckland isn't."Â
