The Huddle: Christopher Luxon's faith and Mongrel Mob's Parliament clash

The Mongrel Mob has hit back over the Government's Arms Amendment Bill.

The Mob's PR spokesperson Louise Hutchinson's today fronted the Justice select committee - giving an almost 20-minute submission in which she said the proposed legislation is politically motivated.

It would give Police greater powers to control the use of firearms by gangs.

Meanwhile, religion and politics intersected in the maiden speech of National MP Christopher Luxon.

The former Air New Zealand boss told the House last night that it seems to have become acceptable to stereotype public Christians as extreme.

The Botany MP says his faith has anchored him, given his life purpose, and shaped his values.

And Luxon says it's personal - not a political agenda.
