A call from the US Department of Justice to speak with Prince Andrew could be historic.
The department jas submitted a request to the UK's Home Office to quiz the Duke of York as a witness in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.
The prince's lawyers hit back, saying he'd offered to be a witness three times.
However, Spencer Kuvin, who represents some of Epstein's victims, told Heather du Plessis-Allan that the US perspective is that Andrew has been completely uncooperative.Â
"He has paid lip service and said he would co-operate, but when asked to do so, he has hidden behind diplomatic immunity and has not stepped forward and volunteered his testimony."Â
He says it would be momentous if Andrew was called in to testify in a US investigation, but issues such as diplomatic immunity and Andrew's royal status complicate getting him to testify.
"They are going to have to figure out the best way to handle this."Â
Prince Andrew has admitted to be friends with Epstein and staying at houses owned by the financier.Â
Kuvin says that some of his clients would want to know about his whereabouts, and whether or not he knows where Ghislaine Maxwell - an associate of Jeffrey Epstein - is.Â
