An excited Sophie Pascoe is surprised there's a briefing for flag bearers at the Commonwealth Games.

She will be leading the New Zealand contingent on the tracks tonight at the opening ceremony on the Gold Coast.

Sophie Pascoe told Heather du Plessis-Allan she's only just heard there's a briefing.

She says it will be a bit of a work out in prep for her race on Saturday carrying the heavy flag all the way around the stadium tonight.

The Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony starts at 10pm our time.
