Mental Health Foundation: Government has only done a small portion of what's needed to fix services

The Government's being accused of putting a positive gloss on mental health progress.

A review into the implementation of the 2019 Budget $1.9 billion mental health and addiction package says funded initiatives are on track for completion.

But it also signalled room for improvement including around mental health infrastructure and retaining a qualified workforce.

Mental Health Foundation CEO Shaun Robinson told Heather du Plessis-Allan the Government has only done a small portion of what's needed to fix services.

“Even though Covid-19 did interrupt them, they were off to a very slow start after the mental health inquiry gave them some pretty clear direction of where to go.”
