A prominent entrepreneur is pushing for an alternative to the Covid-19 contact tracing app.
Trade Me founder Sam Morgan believes the better option is the CovidCard, a device the size of a credit card that detects and records close contacts using Bluetooth..
He told Heather Du Plessis-Allan the current app wouldn't be of much help if Covid-19 got back into the community.
"The apps have been around for sometime now in different markets and they don't reach the level of adoption needed to make a difference."
Morgan says he's frustrated it's currently stuck in limbo with Government officials.
"It will really take someone to stand up and say the risk of community transmission is high enough and manual contact tracing won't be able to stop the virus."
