The regions will keep banking branches for the next three years

Regional bank branches will continue for at least the next three years.  

ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Kiwibank, and Westpac have agreed to keep existing regional sites open in towns outside our six biggest cities.  

The New Zealand Banking Association has been trialling hubs providing a smart ATM - putting operations for all banks at one location. The Association says it showed locals preferred to still use a single brand bank - rather than the hub. 

NZ Banking Association CEO Roger Beaumont told Heather du Plessis-Allan “In a time of economic uncertainty, it gives regional bank customers surety.” 

Beaumont said “I think people are creatures of habit and like the familiarity of their bank environment.”
