A former Brexit campaigner thinks New Zealand has 'sold its soul' to China.

There have been grumblings from some overseas commentators who claim New Zealand is ‘cosying up’ with China, rather than joining in Five Eyes' condemnation.

Former Brexit campaigner and political commentator Nigel Farage is one of them.

However, none of the condemnation's come from Five Eyes officials.

Farage told Heather du Plessis-Allan he thinks officials are just playing the diplomatic game.

"Have another think about what you've done to your friends and allies around the world. You've thrown sand in our eyes and you've turned your back on the English-speaking world."
