Mental health advocate Mike King says the Ministry of Health keeps giving him red herrings over why it won't fund his Gumboot Friday.

The initiative provides free counselling for young people across the country.

The Ministry says the request for funding was made outside the required timeframe.

But King told Heather du Plessis-Allan he doesn't thinks that's the case and says he's willing to put all of the Government money to counsellors.

"No one is delivering 100 percent of government money where it's supposed to go. I've offered them the Gumboot Friday platform, take it off my hands, have it for free. It just keeps falling on deaf ears."
