The Ministry of Health this afternoon has confirmed a case of Covid-19 in the Auckland community.

However, there is no clear link to the border.

Epidemiologist Michael Baker says the Covid-19 case is almost certain to be the Delta variant. He told Heather du Plessis-Allan that over the past month all 79 cases at our border have been Delta.

Cabinet are currently meeting, with a press conference to follow at 6pm.
