A short lived shelf life for Six60 scratchie cards.
Lotto New Zealand has removed the cards from sale this afternoon after widespread criticism for normalising gambling.
In a statement this afternoon. Lotto NZ says after the feedback, the parties mutually agreed to remove the SIX60 Scratchie from sale
Spokesperson Kirsten Robinson says Lotto NZ is committed to minimising any risk of problem or underage gambling.
Six60 lead singer Matiu Walters told Heather du Plessis-Allan that although they had good intentions, the band showed a lack of foresight.
"We're trying to raise money for these charities that desperately need it."
"We didn't anticipate that it would cause harm, and we didn't want that at all."
He says they understand how it looked.Â
"I can sympathise and I can understand where people are coming from. Recently, we've had some messages from our fans, and we have a really personal relationship with our fans."
The band still hopes to raise money for charities and will look at doing this through different avenues.
