There are fresh calls for a law against those who throw a so-called ‘coward punch.’

MMA fighter Fau Vake is fighting for his life in hospital tonight after he was allegedly hit from behind while waiting for a taxi over the weekend.

Team mate Israel Adesanya and his coaches have been calling for a tougher law to act as a deterrent.

Defence lawyer Marie Dhyrberg told Heather du Plessis-Allan she doesn't think a tougher law would stop these situations happening.

“That will not work, because then you are going to get into all sorts of strife with 'how do you define a king hit?'"
