By next year they wanted to lift 61,000 kids out of poverty.
They haven’t come anywhere near that.
They're now giving themselves an extra three years to get to 67,000 kids out of poverty.
Barnardos Advocacy Advisor Mahala Pinchen says that they are making great progress to reduce child poverty in New Zealand, but bold actions need to be taken.
“The longer a child is actually left to live in poverty, the more severe the effects are for them and for their whanau and New Zealand.”
