A new petition wants to make longer days permanent.
On April 4th, New Zealanders put back the clocks an hour as daylight saving ends.
But a group called Take Back the Clocks is petitioning for year-round daylight saving.
Founder Louis Houlbrooke told Heather du Plessis-Allan the twice yearly change causes stress for all New Zealanders.
"Especially for the parents of young kids, the farmers, the dairy cows, anyone working across time zones.
"It's really not necessary. In a week and a half, we're going to get an extra hour to sleep in, but for what? We'll be walking home in the dark."
