The confirmed death toll from a mass shooting at an Independence Day parade in Chicago has risen to seven.

The 21-year-old suspect has been charged with several counts of murder.

US correspondent Katherine Firkin told Heather du Plessis-Allan the oldest identified victim was 88.

“Tragically, the younger victims so far were the mother and father of a young boy. They were actually with their child at the parade and what a tragedy that that child is now parentless.”
