Two of New Zealand’s best sprinters have qualified for the Olympics but they aren’t allowed to start.

Eddie Osei-Nketia qualified for the Olympics in IOC standards but was off New Zealand’s qualifying standard by 0.07 seconds.

Zoe Hobbs is not going because of a technicality and her coach James Mortimer says because of a standard to qualify for the semi-finals, she can’t go.

But he believes Hobbs isn't going to the Olympics because NZOC want to save face.

"I don't believe money is an issue, and it shouldn't be, because if she did qualify, then they've got to come up with the money somewhere else anyway."
