The rich and wealthy are not just letting Inland Revenue swan in and ask for all the information about their wealth. 

Lawyers are already being lined up for a legal challenge after Inland Revenue asked for the details of people’s nominated tax agents. 

NZ Herald’s Wellington Business Editor Hamish Rutherford told Heather du Plessis-Allan says half New Zealand’s targeted wealthy haven’t responded to IRD’s request at all. 

“It seems very likely that there will be some kind of legal challenge to test whether the IRD is properly using its powers.”
