The US Senate has passed new legislation that will protect same-sex and interracial marriage.
The bill is known as the Respect for Marriage Act, and the Democrats are hoping Joe Biden will sign it into law before Republicans take over the House.
US correspondent Dan Mitchinson explained how this legislation would work tokeep same-sex and interracial marriages recognised by law.
