National's accusing the government of scaring the public with projections of the future size of our waterbills.
Local government minister Nanaia Mahuta yesterday announced she wants to create four new water entities to better distribute the gigantic cost of improving our water infrastructure.Â
She claims that if the government doesn't do this, households could pay as much as $9,000 a year for water by 2050.Â
Christopher Luxon, National's local government spokesperson, told Heather du Plessis-Allan that he's got serious reservation with the proposed models.
"I can't see how the scale benefits are going to be achieved by putting a whole bunch of unconnected towns together into a ribbon."
