Going out on a high.
Radio Sport aired what might be its final live cricket commentary, and did so with a winning performance form the Black Caps.
The New Zealand team won their second test against India by seven wickets and claimed the series 2-nil.
Openers Tom Latham and Tom Blundell both scored half centuries as New Zealand reached their 132 run target and guided them past the visitors total.Â
While it was a joyous victory for New Zealand fans, it also marked the end of an era. Cricket commentator Bryan Waddle told Heather du Plessis-Allan that it is a bittersweet moment, as the match marked the end of Radio Sport's coverage.
"It is sad, as I see it as, to a certain extent, trying to fix something that isn't broken. It's been popular, we've had a lot of support from people, and it's sad to leave a job and a game we have contributed to."Â
He says that cricket survives on the commentary that it has, and the changes - which will affect the television streaming, which moves from Sky to Spark Sport - will affect how the game is enjoyed.Â
