There are reports of cost cutting in the plans for Dunedin’s new hospital. Proposals apparently include reducing the number of beds and operating theatres, and dropping entire wards.
Health Minister Andrew Little reckons he’s had no advice about any proposed changes to the scale of the projects. Aaron Hawkins, Mayor of Dunedin is similarly unaware of the truth to this.
“It certainly hasn’t been a conversation they’ve had with us, and the city has been reasonably well connected to the new Dunedin hospital project. So it’s very concerning to see these sorts of proposals being floated in the public domain.”
