High demand for teachers means schools could be vulnerable to hiring irresponsible staff.

22 people were struck off the teacher's registry last year - seven over sexual misconduct.

School Trustees Association president Lorraine Kerr told Rachel Smalley a shortage of teachers could mean schools hire more desperately.

"We just have to keep being rigorous about our processes, and we have to have an unrelenting focus on our processes," she said.
