Proceeds from the sale of rabbit and possum carcasses will be used to buy extra resources for a kindergarten north of Gisborne.

Ormond Kindy is holding a Father's Day four day hunting fundraiser next week.

Gisborne Kindergarten Association spokesperson David Spraggs said they're hoping to raise about $1000 - however some people believe the event is trying to desensitise children to violence.

Mr Spraggs joined Early Edition with Rachel Smalley to talk about the event.
