A whole new group of teenagers will now get to vote.
That one month push-back will see thousands turn 18 before October 17.
Gina Dao-McLay is part of campaign group Make It 16 calling for a lower voting age, she'll turn 18 on September 27.
She told Kate Hawkesby the votes of those who turn 18 before the election are important.
“Young people are going to have to live with government decisions the longest.”
Dao-McLay says there's a lot of people around her age who are engaged in politics.
Make It 16 will argue to lower the voting age to 16 in the Wellington High Court next week.
